Bio - Antidote 1 The message…

The Antidote's (aka Mario Da Costa) message is simple. It’s about being your best and teaching people to live their dreams. It’s about pure language and "Driven’ Livin’ Hip Hop". It’s about how to thrive in this crazy world.

’The Antidote 1 message. "The Antidote is driven to always deliver something that is empowering, real, alive and above all entertaining. I’m all about putting life back into Hip Hop," says the Antidote. Hip Hop is very powerful and artists need to infuse their music with the right type of messages.

The Antidote will bring glamour and real style back into music. "I’ve tried to come up with a concept that can offer something really exciting and spectacular to the world. I call it Antidote 1 Drivin’ Livin’ Hip Hop. A message that anyone in the world could appreciate." "I like to be serious about the things I talk about in my music. The only thing for me is that I love to put it in a poetic way, full of spirit, life, truth & above all entertaining."

The music... Mario Da Costa is the creator, singer, songwriter and poet behind the Antidote. Mario says he wants to move and empower the world with his spirit and music. Inspired by the likes of Bob Marley and Stevie Wonder as well as 2Pac and Redman,

Mario introduces a fresh and exciting turn in the world of urban music. "I want to offer a positive alternative to the current market," he says. Though his music is positive, the Poetic Warrijah's message remains real and hardhitting. He says be strong, believe in yourself and never give up, because life may not be easy and may be a struggle and a pain. "Keep your head up and be strong. That’s really what I’m trying to say to people," says Mario. "That’s the price for success & happiness."

The Poetic Warrijah's current tracks include: - da Champion (2009) - da Game (2009)
The Antidote 1 album is scheduled for release in 2009.

The rise… Mario is the 3rd eldest of 7 children, 6 boys and 1 girl. Ironically, Mario comes from 3 generations of 7 children, all being 6 boys and 1 girl.
Born in Africa, Mario and his family moved to Portugal in 1982 and then migrated to Australia in 1986.

He has lived "Drivin' Livin' Hip Hop. A message that anyone in the world could appreciate"

Bio – Poetic Warrijah , Antidote 1 (September 2008) in Brisbane ever since. "I guess you can call me an African, Portuguese, Australian man," says Mario. Being on stage and performing has been part of Mario’s life since his early primary school years. He was a regular performer at Rotary Camps, Blue Light Discos, PCYC concerts and numerous competitions, night clubs & festivals around Queensland. However, Mario’s upbringing was not all discos and gigs.

In his late teens, Mario went through a rough patch and associated with the wrong crowds. He started taking drugs, got involved with criminal activity, started drinking and did some things he regretted. Mario ended up in jail for two years.

As Mario started to realise what he was doing, he took a turn for the better. Instead of hating life, he started to be inspired by it. He realised that life wasn’t meant to be easy, but if you kept your head up and followed your dream, you would find your true power & happiness in life.

The Poetic Warrijah was one of Mario’s dreams, (now known as the Antidote) and more than 15 years in the making. Without trying to sound cliché, the Antidote is a demonstration of Mario 'walking da talk'. a determinaton to be strong and positive, Mario had fnally turned his life around.

He took the opportunity in jail to reflect on life and used the time to develop his skills. Mario educated himself and learned to be strong. This was the beginning the Poetic Warrijah. This was the first steps in the creation of Antidote 1 project.

From experience, Mario believes it’s harder to be good in life than to try and be or sound bad, like a lot of rappers in the world today. "I float like a butterfly & sting like a bee," says the Antidote. "I want to put life back into Hip Hop.

Hip Hop deserves to have real MCs and people that believe in the family institution, the oldest institution in the world," he says. "I believe in that - love & respect." "I am going to bring real freshness back into the world, some real glamour, bring back some real style.

Watch out, cause I’m going to electrify the world so it will feel the vibe.” "Here I come..."
