‘Let the sunlight in’ is AMMP’s latest single and follows Radioscope NZtop40 singles, including Always, Go, Dirty Rock and Roll and Ironman. Let the sunlight in is the first single off AMMP’s upcoming album to be released in 2010. It’s a song that describes our growth as a band as songwriters and musicians moving towards our debut album. The first verse tells of a person who is struggling with himself and relationships - but in amongst all the problems (described as a wake) happiness can still be found. The chorus is joyous. It’s about light and life. Letting the sunlight in is a metaphor for faith, hope and new beginnings that dawn with each sunrise. We found the chorus while mixing the song and it was like letting the sunlight in on this song. And it really did feel like the day was beginning for us when we found it. The second verse talks of today’s society, economy, climate with the phrase another day it feels so corrupt seemingly always taking one step forward and two steps back. But always with hope. The bridge section tells of the hope of planting a seed of hope in amongst the darkness and corruption of the world. It’s the parable of the mustard seed, a parable the smallest of seeds growing into the largest of trees. A seed we have planted in the form of a song... let the sunlight in and we grow.
